2008 Jr Nationals Coaching

Coaching Rules for USA Jr. Nationals

  1. Although BWF permits continuous coaching, we highly suggest that coaches limit comments to intervals, and between game breaks, especially for younger kids. (Younger kids can be easily distracted, we find limited coaching increases the level of play.)
  2. Because we are working to teach sportsmanship, and court conduct, the court official has the ability to advise athletes to use proper court behavior as well as the full authority to penalize improper behavior using yellow, red, and black cards. The court official may choose to enlist coaches to aid in such instructions regarding conduct.
  3. All pertinent USAB/BWF coaching regulations apply.

Coaching Credentials
Goals/Objective:

  • Upgrade the recognition of coaching and the professionalism at the tournament.
  • Establish listing for coaching Education Department of Active Junior Coaches.
  • Improve tournament space management, by having only recognized coaches in coaching chairs.
  1. Organizers establish a list of all coaches or parent coaches from player registration with e-mail contacts.
  2. Juniors Committee Chair will contact all coaches about coaching expectations.
  3. Organizers present coaching credentials (plastic necklace) at registration. 3 colors to differentiate between Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Parent Coaches.
  4. 1 credential for each Head Coach with the coach’s name. 1 Assistant Coach credential for any coach with greater than 8 players, 2 credentials for any coach with greater than 14 players, 3 credentials for any coach with greater than 20 players.
